Wow, May is truly flying by and we're already on to the third  Party Picks post! This week we're looking at simple ways of decorating baked goods. I don't know about you but I like to have a few basic baking recipes up my sleeve. That way, whatever the party may be I can fall back on one of my simple baking recipes, then I can just dress the treats up to suit the theme of the occasion! But how to decorate them you might ask? Well, how about these adorable cupcake toppers made with card and paper straws. Just choose suitable coloured card for your event, cut out a fun mix of shapes and then stick the shapes on to straws, ready to stick in to cupcakes, a cake or a pudding.

You could even cut out a selection of letters to spell out the guests of honours name! Or you could draw a pattern, picture or design on to the pieces of card if you'd like something more elaborate! These cupcakes toppers were made by Kristi Murphy and you can see more info here.
