Cake pops have been all the rage for a while but if time is not on your side and you need a simple alternative, you might just like the look of these! These marshmallow treats are perfect for so many occasions, whether you want to add something extra to your wedding sweet table or want to gift something to your friends, these will do just the trick.

Start by prodding your marshmallows on to the end of a straw. Here I’ve used some stripey straws for a pop of colour, but you can use sweet or baking sticks, just make sure they’re food safe. Then dip the marshmallows in melted white chocolate (or icing if you prefer) and sprinkle with er…sprinkles. I’ve gone for a clean, classic look but of course you can pick different coloured straws, sprinkles and marshmallows to suit your event.

Ta da! Now go ‘wow’ your friends and family with these sweet delights!

*ok, so this isn’t a recipe in the traditional ‘cooking’ sense but you’ll no doubt be in the kitchen carrying out this set of instructions so that’s as good as a recipe in our book.

This DIY comes from Better Homes and Gardens and it’s a great alternative to carving out a spooky face in your pumpkin. You can download a template for the flames from BHG but what’s so great about this project is that the shape of the flames don’t have to be perfect so you can easily draw these out freehand without worrying too much about what they look like.

Li-Ann put this party together for her twin boys’ 2nd birthday and chose the Mexican theme for the country’s bright colours and vibrant energy. The party and all its details were beautifully captured by Lee Bird. 

I love how Li-Ann has put flowers in open limes, it’s such a quirky idea! The stationery is also one my favourite parts as the aztec details are so intricate and work perfectly with the theme. I think this styling could work at a wedding as the theme is so bright. What do you think? Would you use this theme for your next party?

For one pom pom you’ll need 12 sheets of tissue paper.  Once you’ve counted them out, lay the tissue flat, like below.

Next, make accordion folds in the tissue paper, making sure the fold is at the valley of each scallop. Crease with each fold.

Then take one piece of floral wire (included in the pack) and wrap and twist it around the centre of folded tissue paper.

Although you don’t have to do it now, it’s probably easier to tie ribbon or string around the wire before you fluff out the pom pom. Tie on a piece long enough to let you hang the pom pom if that’s what you plan to do.

Now open out one end of the tissue paper to make a fan shape. Separate each layer of paper, pulling away from the centre.

For best results, pull away layers from one half before moving on to the next side.

Once all layers are pulled out, rearrange the tissue as required to create a fully fluffed Tissue Paper Pom Pom!
